Michael was born into a fun-loving California family in 1953. Educated at the University of California at Irvine, Michael studied under both John Mason and Joe Soldate, two outstanding ceramic artists. After graduation, he spent 2 years working as a production potter for Markel Ceramics in Santa Ana, CA. Working as a commercial potter brought about a technical skill that can only be perfected through long hours of concentrated throwing. Michael left California in 1976 to begin his career as a private studio artist in Page Springs, AZ.
Michael’s primary focus has always been on decorative vases, striving to create combinations of wheel-thrown forms and exotic finishes that are unique, with mixed-media aspects.
